The Ben Nevis Mature Female Sale exceeded all expectations with Ben Nevis Jean H215 smashing the record for a Mature Cow for Angus in Australia knocking down to Bannaby and Banquet Angus for a massive $82,000. The Star Donor of the 72 year old stud was the dam of the $24,000 Ben Nevis Newsflash who also went to Bannaby in 2018 and the Granddam of the $32,000 Ben Nevis Metamorphic who is owned by Banquet.
Losing bidder was Merit Farms who purchased the 2nd top priced female of the sale Ben Nevis Jean K80 (H215’s daughter and Metamorphic dam) for $38,000.
Buyers were chasing specific Jean, Geranium and Dormist lines with the Donors creating their own hot spots in the sale including ;

Volume buyers included Margo Duncan- Boambee Stud with 6 females averaging $12,800, Colin Bannerman- Kywarra Angus with 7 females for an average of $6,714, Ulrick Family- 2 Sisters Angus with 7 females averaging $7,600 and Paul Barnett from Taree securing 6 females for $5,600.
Due to COVID-19 border restrictions of the 244 registered bidders nearly 200 of them were online with Auctionplus securing over 1/3 of the sales and bidders relying on online video’s, photos, BREEDPLAN and pedigree information to make their selections.
