The Importance of Quality

We have been investing in marbling for some twenty years because of the positive effect it has on eating quality. Rather than just rely on EBV’s to chase marbling (which can be misleading on young sires), we have also multiplied the genetics of those animals who have performed better for growth and IMF when treated the same through ultrasound scanning and carcase feedback. Our own herd sire and donor range comes from this process. As a result in the last 10 years we have scanned an average of 4.5% IMF at 18mths of age to an average of 7.8% with external fat levels being similar.
